About

The hospital is located in the affluent town of Umhlanga in KwaZulu-Natal.  Umhlanga is a vibrant residential and commercial town about 16km North of Durban.  The town was previously a seaside resort town called Umhlanga Rocks which merged with La Lucia and became Umhlanga.

In the last couple of years many businesses moved from the Durban CBD to Umhlanga as well as the King Shaka International Airport.  The town is growing rapidly in the business and residential side as well as growing in popularity with tourists.

Umhlanga is seen as the “Sandton” of KwaZulu-Natal and offers many upmarket restaurants, shops and accommodation.

The hospital is easily accessible via the M12 to the East and the M41 to the South-West of the hospital.  The well-known Gateway Mall is across the road to the West of the hospital.  A 24-hour accident and emergency unit provides high-quality services to the community around the clock.

Beds and Wards

The hospital has 204 beds with sophisticated facilities and provides its patients with professional care and services.  Mother and babies are cared for by well-trained staff and doctors at the maternity unit.  Newborns in need of specialised care are monitored around the clock at the neonatal intensive care unit which is equipped with state-of-the-art support and monitoring equipment.

Critically ill and injured patients receive professional and high medical care at the two intensive care units at the hospital.  The paediatric ward cares for children in need of medical care and services.  Highly professional and world-class medical procedures are performed by highly trained doctors at the four surgical wards.
