Suikerbosrand hospital is located in Heidelberg, Gauteng. Heidelberg is about 50 kilometers of Johannesburg and borders Brakpan and Nigel.
The town of Heidelberg is located at the foot of the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve and next to the N3 highway. Suikerbosrand hospital is easily accessible from the N3 to the East, the R23 to the East and the R42 to the South. The hospital runs a 24 hour trauma and emergency unit manned by well-trained specialists.
Beds and Wards
The hospital has 94 beds and 3 theatres which is technologically advanced and fully equipped to provide state-of-the-art services. High care is provided to seriously ill or injured patients in the 8 bed intensive care and 2 bed high care units.
The smallest and most fragile patients are cared for in the 7 bed maternity unit and 2 bed neonatal intensive unit with well-appointed wards and security facilities. The first immunisation is free to all babies and a baby registration service is also offered in the hospital.
New parents get spoiled with a complimentary candle light dinner before being discharged and all mothers that pre-booked their deliveries receive a maternity bag filled with some needed products for the new baby.
The hospital provides a full range of hospital service including HIV, AIDS and TV-related treatment, care and support. Antiretroviral (ARV) treatment initiation and on-going treatment is also part of the service.
