The hospital is easily accessible via the M39 to the West, the M38 to the East and the well-known N1 to the West of the hospital.  A 24-hour accident and emergency unit is supported around the clock by resident specialists.

Beds and Wards

Carstenhof hospital has 153 beds and 6 laminar airflow theatres.  Each room has an en-suite bathroom and access to the gardens.  The theatres include a dedicated Digital Operating Theatre.  A 10 bed ICU with 7 high care beds provide advanced and high care to patients.

Mothers and newborn babies receive special and professional care at the 21 bed maternity unit which includes 5 delivery rooms.  An 8 bed neonatal ICU and 4 bed neonatal high care unit with state-of-the-art monitoring and life support equipment provide high care and support to newborn babies.  The maternity unit is also supported by a baby clinic and family rooms where fathers can stay overnight.

The maternity unit provides total mother and baby care with specialist facilities.  The nursery comes with a Photo-Therapy unit.  The baby’s first immunisation done in the hospital is free and all babies are offered birth registrations within 30 days of birth.
