The hospital is situated in Krugersdorp on the West Rand of Gauteng.  Krugersdorp is a gold mining town, but other minerals like manganese, asbestos and lime are also mined in the area.  The town originated after the discovery of gold on the Witwatersrand and it has a lot of history and culture.

Krugersdorp is well-known for the Cradle of Humankind, Sterkfontein Caves and the several game reserves in the area, which includes the 1400 hectare Krugersdorp Game Reserve .  Locals and visitors also enjoy visiting the Rhino and Lion Park and Brookwood Estate Trout Farm in the area.

The town offers other attractions like the South African National Bird of Prey Centre, Eco Adventure Park and the Railway and Steam Train Museum.  Nearby Krugersdorp is Kromdraai (meaning Crooked Turn) which is a protected conservancy of untouched nature and beauty.  The town is only 45km North-West from Johannesburg and about 70km South-West from Pretoria.

The town of Krugersdorp lies close to many towns in the area including Randfontein (13km), Westonaria (34km) and Roodepoort (14km).
