The hospital is situated in the seaside resort town of Margate on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.  Margate is a popular holiday destination all year round due to its sub-tropical climate and warm Indian Ocean and is known as the “holiday capital” of the South Coast in the province.

The town has great beaches and the ocean is filled with tropical sea life and coral reef which makes Margate one of the best diving spots on the coastline.  Tourists can also experience many other activities such canoeing, boating and skiing.  Beautiful forests nearby is ideal for walks and picnics.

Margate is about 134km South from Durban and lies between Port Shepstone, which is 16km away and Port Edward, which is about 31km to the South.  The hospital is conveniently located in the centre of Margate and is easily accessible via the M61 to the West and the R620 to the East of the hospital.  The 24-hour emergency unit with well-trained staff serves the community around the clock.

Beds and Wards

The hospital has 94 beds and is furnished with well-equipped wards and facilities to ensure that their patients receive quality service and care.  The maternity ward cares for expectant mothers and newborns.  Newborns in need of around the clock intensive care are cared for by highly professional staff and doctors at the neonatal intensive care unit which is equipped with state-of-the-art support and monitoring equipment.

The paediatric ward equipped with world-class equipment and staff cares for children in need of medical care and services.  Critically ill and injured patients receive around the clock monitoring and care at the intensive care unit.
